Damaging winds, power outages expected from Nor'easter
Monday will be a First Alert Weather Day as a Nor'easter bringing damaging winds, coastal flooding, heavy rain and power outages is expected to hit the area.
A High Wind Warning will be in effect from 3 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday for Atlantic, Cape May and Burlington counties in New Jersey. The High Wind Warning will also be in effect for Ocean County until 9 p.m. Monday. Wind gusts up to 60 mph will blow down trees and power lines and scattered to numerous power outages are expected.
A Wind Advisory will also be in effect from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday for Philadelphia, Delaware, lower Bucks, Burlington, Gloucester and Camden counties with wind gusts up to 50 mph and isolated to scattered power outages expected.
The winds will be at their strongest between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday.
Along with the wind will be steady to moderate rain that will cause a messy Monday morning commute. The rain will continue throughout the day with the heaviest batches expected to hit early Monday evening.
In addition to the wind and rain, the high tide will lead to some coastal flooding in parts of the area. A Coastal Flood Advisory will be in effect from 3 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday for Burlington, Cumberland, Cape May, Ocean and Atlantic counties in New Jersey as well as Kent and Sussex counties in Delaware. Minor flooding is expected during the high tide in those areas between 3:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. as well as between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Monday.
A Coastal Flood Advisory will also be in effect from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. in New Castle and Salem counties.
