'Devil Baby' scares the hell out of New Yorkers
Millions have viewed the YouTube video as part of a stunt to promote the movie "Devil's Due."
Not all babies are cute.
Some New Yorkers are probably still having nightmares about their recent encounters with a "Devil Baby" that would suddenly bolt upright in a baby carriage, snarl its twisted face and even take a spew or two.
Imagine Rosemary's baby with rabies.
The wild-eyed infant looks so demonic, and the reactions are so intense, that the "Devil Baby Attack" video, captured with hidden cameras, has possessed people to view it more than 22 million times on YouTube.
The kid even delivers a middle-finger salute toward the end of the video.
The Rosemary's Baby analogy fits, of course, because the stunt was created to promote a new film, Devil's Due, which opens in theaters Friday.
The creepy trailer shows an expecting mom in bed, when her belly bump goes thump. "Not all miracles come from God" is ominously declared.
Say goodbye to restful sleep forever.
Clearly, Devil's Due is a play on two familiar expressions: "Give the devil his due," and a woman's "due date."
Apparently, advanced screenings weren't offered to critics, since Rotten Tomatoes has "no score yet," though 86 percent of site users say they want to see this movie.
