‘Distraction’ theft nets thieves $15k in diamond rings from Zales store

Police in West Whiteland Township, Chester County, are seeking four males who stole $15,000 worth of jewelry from a Zales store at the Exton Square Mall over the weekend.

Three of the men entered the store 4:15 p.m. Friday, police said, and created a ruse to distract clerks. The fourth, who appeared to be with the men, remained outside as a possible lookout but store employees could not get a good look at him.

The suspects inside the store spoke to different employees, asking various questions about items but did not purchase anything.

After the men left, employees discovered that two diamond rings were missing from a display case.

Police describe the three suspects, all of whom are black, this way:

-The first male was dark complected between 35 and 45 years-old. He was about 6'2" with a thin build. He had "salt and pepper" hair and a beard.

-The second suspect was between 50 and 60, about 5'11" with white hair and beard.

-The third was about 60-years-old, 5'6" with an average build. He had "salt and pepper" hair and was missing a few front teeth. He carried a cigar and wore a necklace with a handgun shaped charm with diamonds.
