Man, 12-year-old shot in Lawncrest

Two people, including a 12-year-old boy, were injured Friday night during a shooting in the Lawncrest section of Philadelphia.

Police said gunfire rang out shortly after 9 p.m. on the 500 block of Van Kirk Street.

The 12-year-old was shot once in the left leg and taken to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, where he was placed in stable condition.

The second victim, a 21-year-old man, was shot once in the upper right chest and rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center, according to investigators. He was hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

More information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting was not immediately available Friday night. Police said no arrests were initially made.
