Man crushed to death by car in Rhawnhurst

A man was killed Sunday afternoon after he became pinned underneath a car in the Rhawnhurst section of Northeast Philadelphia.

Police said the man, 64, was working on a vehicle behind a home on the 1900 block of Stanwood Street around 2:45 p.m., when the car fell on top of him.

Medics rushed him to Aria Health Torresdale, where he died about a half-hour later.

The man's identity was not released Sunday. Additional details about the circumstances surrounding the incident were not immediately available.
