Man shoots at car with women, baby inside in Center City

Philadelphia police are asking for help identifying the motorist who fired shots into another car that had two women and a 4-month-old baby inside in Center City over the weekend.

Police said a 28-year-old woman was driving on the 500 block of Lombard Street when a late-1990s red Mitsubishi Eclipse began following her at about 7:20 p.m. Saturday. The driver was blowing his horn and hanging out the driver-side window.

When the woman turned on to Broad Street, two shots were fired at her car. One bullet broke her rear window. The Eclipse then sped away and was last seen driving west on Lombard Street.

Two others, a 20-year-old woman and a 4-month-old girl, were inside the victim's car at the time. No injuries were reported.

Police released surveillance footage of the suspect's vehicle on Tuesday.

The car was described as a red, 1995 to 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse that had a document on the right side of its rear window. The driver was described as a potentially Hispanic man who was 20 to 30 years old, had dark hair, and was wearing glasses.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 215-686-8477 (TIPS). Tipsters can also send a text message to 773847 (PPDTIP).
