An off-duty Philadelphia police officer was hospitalized in stable condition following a car crash in Olney early Thursday.

The crash took place shortly after 2:15 a.m. at Third Street and Fisher Avenue and involved two vehicles, according to preliminary police information.

The injured officer was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center and was expected to be treated and released, police said. Investigators were initially unsure whether other injuries were reported.

The officer's identity was not released, and additional information about the circumstances surrounding the crash was not immediately available.
