Market-Frankford Line service delayed after man falls onto track

SEPTA officials are cautioning that commuters may experience residual delays after service was suspended to portions of the Market-Frankford Line due to a report of a person on the tracks.

An adult male apparently fell into the track area of the Somerset Station shortly before 5 p.m., as an eastbound train was pulling into the stop, a transit agency spokesman said.

It's not yet clear whether the train actually made contact with the man, the spokesman said.

Emergency personnel rescued the man and took him to a local hospital to be checked out. His condition was not immediately available.

SEPTA workers had to turn off energy to a portion of the track to allow police to investigate.

The transit agency began operating shuttle buses in place of el trains in both directions between the Erie and Berks stations shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday. Train service resumed about a half-hour later.
