Wires fall on Warminster Line SEPTA train
UPDATE: Normal service has been restored to the Warminster Regional Rail Line, SEPTA said in an update issued around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
The first outbound train departed Suburban Station at 3:35 p.m., and the first inbound train left Warminster Station at 3:39 p.m.
Downed wires had forced the transit agency to deploy shuttle buses between the Glenside and Warminster stations earlier in the morning.
ORIGINAL STORY: Train service has been temporarily suspended in both directions for a section of SEPTA's Warminster Line after wires fell on top of a train.
SEPTA said shuttle buses are operating in place of trains between the Warminster and Glenside stations on the Regional Rail line due to overhead wire problems.
The issues began when wires came down on a train that was traveling from Warminster into Center City near the Roslyn Station just before 8:15 a.m., SEPTA spokeswoman Heather Redfern said.
The train was halted while emergency crews responded to ground the wires and rescued the 500 passengers on board.
Another train was dispatched to the site and passengers began boarding the rescue train at 9:25 a.m., Redfern said. That train resumed carrying the riders into Center City at about 9:40 a.m.
The wire issues briefly caused service on the entire Warminster line to be suspended. Service was partially restored around 8:50 a.m.
Redfern said it wasn't yet known when trains would be running again on the Glenside-to-Warminster section of the line.
Suggestions for alternate travel can be found on the agency's website, septa.org. The transit agency said would provide service updates on its website and social media. Alerts for the Warminster Line are on Twitter at @SEPTA_WAR.
