Vigil on Friday for executed child-advocacy worker

A child-advocacy worker who was murdered execution-style as she waited for a bus on Tuesday will be memorialized at the site of her killing near Temple University.

Kim Jones, 56, died about 9 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of 12th and Jefferson Sts. Police believe she was ambushed as she waited for a bus to take her to her job at Center City's Turning Points for Children. She died at the scene of a single bullet to the back of her head. Her killer, described as a heavy black man who wore black clothing and carried a black duffel bag, was last seen walking west on Jefferson Street.

Philadelphia Ceasefire is leading the vigil, which is set to run from 4 to 5 p.m on Friday.

Anyone who was near the intersection between 9 and 9:30 a.m. is asked to call Philadelphia detectives at 215-686-3334 or text a tip to PPD TIP (773847).
