Woman found slain inside Nicetown Park

A 26-year-old woman was found fatally shot inside a park in the Nicetown section of North Philadelphia late Saturday night.

Officers responding to a report of gunshots along the 4300 block of North 17th Street found the woman lying facedown inside Nicetown Park about 11:45 p.m., police said. She had been shot multiple times.

Medics pronounced her dead at the scene about 10 minutes later. Her identity was not released Sunday because her family members had not yet been notified.

There wasn't word on a suspect or motive, and police reported no arrest. Anyone with information was asked to contact Philadelphia police.
