Power restored to all Peco customers put in dark after North Philly substation fire
Electricity was restored Thursday morning to all customers who lost power due to a large fire Tuesday at a Peco substation in North Philadelphia.
As many as 36,000 customers were without power in North and Northwest Philadelphia at the height of the outage. Two schools near the substation at 2634 W. Westmoreland St. were closed Wednesday due to lack of electricity.
Both schools, Philadelphia High School for Girls and EW Rhodes Middle School, had their power restored and opened Thursday, the Philadelphia School District said.
