East and Conestoga students honored in online safety contest

A student from West Chester East finished third in a statewide video contest, earning himself a Microsoft Xbox.

Joe Amodei, a 10th-grader at East, wrote and directed a 30-second public service announcement, entitled "The Chat Room", which placed third among more than 30 entrants from middle and high-school students across the state.

The Operation Safe Surf video contest, run by the Attorney General's office and co-sponsored by Microsoft, is designed to spread the word about online safety.

Another student group from East, and a group from Conestoga High School placed in the top nine, earning educational software from Microsoft. Amodei's video, along with the other two finalists, can be viewed online at videocontest.attorneygeneral.gov.
