Crash leaves man dead; woman charged with DUI

A two-car collision in the Northeast around midnight left a man dead and critically injured a woman who was suspected of driving under the influence, police said.

The man was driving north on Tacony Street and trying to make a left onto Van Kirk Street when another vehicle slammed into the side of his car, according to Cpl. Carol Johnson.

The man, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:16 a.m.

The woman, 32, was arrested a DUI charge and taken to Frankford Hospital's Torresdale Division, where she was in critical condition, Johnson said.

Their names were being withheld this morning.
