The shooting death of a woman March 30 in South Philadelphia has been ruled a homicide, belatedly making her the 161st slaying victim in the city this year.

Renee Gardner, 37, was shot in the stomach about 2:45 a.m. that day in a house on the 2300 block of South Franklin Street. Gardner, of the 2000 block of South Bouvier Street, was pronounced dead at 3:25 a.m. at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
Police questioned her estranged husband at the time, but the death remained as an open investigation until it was ruled a homicide yesterday.
No arrest has been made in the case, detectives said this morning.
