Temperature hits 100 in Atlantic City; ties year’s high here

Shortly before 4 p.m., the temperature at Philadelphia International Airport hit 96, matching the year's high mark there, set July 9 and equaled the following day.
The heat index - an estimate of how hot it feels with mugginess factored in - reached 105.
The temperature got up to 98 at Northeast Philadelphia Airport.
And in Atlantic City, the temperature hit 100 - tying the record for the date, set in 2001.
Philly International's record for this date is 100, set six years ago.
The National Weather Service's excessive heat warning is in effect through 8 p.m.
The usual precautions apply:
Stay out of the heat.
Never leave children or pets in vehicles.
Check on elderly relatives and neighbors.
Wear light, loose clothing
Drink lots of nonalcoholic fluids.

The heat wave is expected to end by tomorrow, when the high's expected to fall short of 90 despite plenty of sun. Highs the rest of the week should be in the mid to high 80s.
Thunderstorms are possible tonight and tomorrow night.
