Two dozen elementary school children were detoured to a Gloucester County hospital this afternoon after a car slammed into their school bus, police said. No injuries were reported.

The children, first- through fourth-graders, were on their way home from Charles C. Stratton Elementary School in Swedesboro. Their bus was stopped on High Hill Road in Woolwich Township at about 3:30 p.m. when it was rammed from behind by a Ford Taurus driven by Vladimir Rudka of Bensalem, said Chief Russell Marino of Woolwich Township police.

The students were transferred to another bus and taken to Underwood Memorial Hospital in Woodbury to be examined. Rudka was charged with careless driving.

"Most of [the children] thought it was an adventure," Marino said. "As long as nobody got hurt, they thought it was pretty neat."
