A man was shot to death early this morning by Camden police following a car and foot chase that ended in the 1100 block of Kenwood Avenue, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutors identified the man as Braxton Lane, of the 1400 block of Kenwood Avenue.

Officers approached Lane just after 3 a.m. this morning after he exited a car on Kenwood Avenue. Lane pulled a gun and started shooting at police, who returned fire and wounded him, authorities said.

The car, driven by another male, left the area prior to the shootout. Police later found the vehicle and the driver, who they are now interviewing.

Lane was pronounced dead later at Cooper University Hospital.
