A Rowan University student on his way home from a bar was seriously injured last night when he fell out of car driven by another Rowan student, police said.

Gregg Kaulfers, 22, of Clifton, Passaic County, was in critical condition this afternoon at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, said Chief Alex Fanfarillo of the Glassboro police department.

Kaulfers was one of three passengers, all students, in a car driven by Samantha Bolen, 21. They were near Girard and Swarthmore Roads in Glassboro at about 2 a.m., en route to the home of one of the students, when Kaulfers tumbled out of the backseat and onto the road.

"We don't know if he jumped from the car, or was pushed or was 'surfing' when he fell," Fanfarillo said. "We're still trying to find that out."

Bolen, of Belle Mead, Somerset County, was charged with careless driving and driving under the influence, Fanfarillo said.
