46th Street Station reopens today

SEPTA's 46th Street Station reopens today in West Philadelphia for Market-Frankford Line El trains.

SEPTA's 46th Street Station reopens today in West Philadelphia for Market-Frankford Line El trains.

The Market Street Elevated reconstruction project shut down El service to 46th Street Station in June 2007.

The opening of 46th Street Station marks the debut of the fourth of six new stations designed under the reconstruction project, SEPTA said in a news release.

Security features include curved and reflective walls that eliminate blind corners, visible and brightly lit interior and exterior station areas, and a pedestrian underpass to allow safe passenger travel above Market Street between both platforms, the transit agency said.

The station, which accommodates 3,700 passengers each weekday, is handicap accessible, SEPTA said.
