R3 train kills pedestrian

An inbound R3 SEPTA train hit a pedestrian at 5 p.m. Thursday in the area of the Morton station, temporarily shutting down rail service in the area, a SEPTA spokesman said.

The victim, whose name was not available, died at the scene of an apparent suicide, the spokesman said.

Service to seven stations from Secane to Elwyn was suspended for about two hours.
