Groundbreaking today for National Guard facility

Ground will be broken today for a Pennsylvania National Guard readiness center and maintenance facility in Northampton County.

Ground will be broken today for a Pennsylvania National Guard readiness center and maintenance facility in Northampton County.

The state Department of Military and Veterans Affairs will hold the ceremony at 10 a.m. for the $19 million facility on Uhler Road in Forks Township.

The readiness center will be home to two Army National Guard units: the 104th Cavalry, currently in Easton; and the 228 Brigade Support Battalion, now in Bethlehem. The field maintenance facility will be used to repair and maintain military vehicles.    - Inquirer staff
