Youth minister gets five years for sexual assault on girl in Gloucester Co.

A former Gloucester County youth minister was sentenced to five years in prison today for having a two-year sexual relationship with girl from his youth group that began when she was 15.

Paul D. Glover, 34, pleaded guilty Jan. 28 in Superior Court to second-degree sexual assault.

Glover, who is married and the father of two children, now lives in Hattiesburg, Miss., but he lived in Glassboro until last year. In 2000 he was given the youth minister position at the non-denominational Pitman Church of Christ, located in Sewell, Washington Township, where the victim and her family attended services.

The girl eventually joined Glover's youth group, prosecutors said, and the two began a sexual relationship that lasted until the girl became pregnant.

Glover was arrested on March 9, 2007, two weeks after the girl told her parents of the relationship. Glover also resigned from his position at the church. He and his family moved shortly after Glover posted $150,000 bail.

After his sentencing yesterday in Superior Court in Woodbury, Glover was taken in handcuffs to the Gloucester County Jail, where he will be held until he is transferred to a state prison.

Glover must serve 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
