Bucks County's Pennridge School District will hold a memorial service Tuesday evening to honor Army Sgt. 1st Class Shawn M. Suzch, a 1994 Pennridge high school graduate who was killed in Iraq in March.
The service and plaque dedication for Suzch will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the lobby of the high school, at 1228 North 5th Street in Perkasie. The event is open to the public.
Suzch and four other members of his unit were killed by a suicide bomber while on patrol in the Mansour section of Baghdad. A 14-year Army veteran, he was on his third tour of duty in Iraq.
Speakers, including family members, Pennridge high principal Tom Creeden and the assistant principal, Nick Schoonover, will talk about Suzch's life and his dedication to the military. The new plaque will be placed next to one that honors Marine Lance Cpl. Robert Mininger, a 2002 Pennridge graduate who also died in Iraq, in 2005.
