A Great Valley High School senior and a Center for Arts & Technology Pickering campus senior were among four soon-to-be graduates awarded $8,000 college scholarships by the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation.

Great Valley's Katharine Curran, of Malvern, and CAT-Pickering's Janay Winston, of Phoenixville will each receive $8,000 over the next four years. Curran and Winston were two of the four area seniors interested in pursuing a career in healthcare to win the scholarships, out of 14 applicants. Winners were selected on merit and financial need, and in addition to writing a 500-word essay about why working in healthcare will be rewarding, Curran and Winston had to interview with foundation officials.

Both winners plan to study exercise science and physical therapy in college; Curran at Salisbury University in Maryland, Winston at Ursinus College.
