Willingboro man charged in motel shooting death

A Willingboro man has been arrested in the shooting death of a Beverly man in a Maple Shade motel room, officials said today.

A Willingboro man has been arrested in the shooting death of a Beverly man in a Maple Shade motel room, officials said today.

Antwan Plowden, 28, was shot multiple times shortly before 10 p.m. yesterday in a room at the Motel 6 on Route 73, said Joel Bewley, spokesman for the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office.

According to Bewley, Plowden knew his alleged assailant, Isiah Williams, 28, of Willingboro.

Plowden had been staying at the hotel with his girlfriend, Bewley said. Williams was staying in a hotel room there with two other men.

At some point last night, Williams and one of the men went to Plowden's room and stayed there for a period of time. Shortly before 10 p.m., Williams shot Plowden while Plowden's girlfriend and the other man were in the room, Bewley said.

The police found Williams in the parking lot of another motel nearby. The two men who were with Williams were also taken into custody, but they have not been charged.

The police found a handgun, believed to be the murder weapon, in the parking lot of the Motel 6.

Both Plowden and Williams have been convicted multiple times on drug-related offenses, according to public records.

Bail for Williams was set at $750,000.
