Finland's ambassador will speak at a Delaware County event tomorrow celebrating the 370th anniversary of Finns in the United States.

Ambassador Pekka Lintu, along with state Sen. Dominic F. Pileggi and Chester Mayor Wendell Butler Jr., will address those gathered to recognize the importance of Finnish settlers in the country.

The ceremony begins at 2 p.m. at the site of the first Finnish settlement in the United States, 1158 Concord Ave. and Finland Drive in Chester.

In 1938 the monument commemorating the 300th anniversary was placed in Chester's Crozer Park. It was sculpted by Finnish artist Vaino Aaltonen and sent at a gift to the United States.
