A nascent redevelopment plan for the Cramer Hill section of East Camden got a surprise boost today when a city development association promised to help create a waterfront park in the neighborhood.

At a news conference, the city's chief operating officer, Judge Theodore Davis, said an $85,000 grant from the Wachovia Regional Foundation would be used to survey Cramer Hill residents about their hopes for the renewal project.

Thomas Corcoran, president of the Cooper's Ferry Development Association, announced that his group would supply another $85,000 grant to hire landscaping, environmental and park planning experts to help build a recreational area on the Delaware River from State Street to Pennsauken.
