A man who had been fleeing from police yesterday morning died after jumping off the Betsy Ross Bridge, said Lt. Frank Vanore of the Public Affairs Unit.
Vanore said police responded to Griscom Street about 4 a.m., when they found a 41-year-old man involved in a domestic dispute.
The man fled in a Lincoln Town Car and was throwing things from the car as police followed. When he got to the Betsy Ross Bridge, Vanore said, the driver abandoned his car and jumped, falling about 200 feet to the ground.
Vanore said the man, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
