Senior citizens eligible for an E-ZPass discount on Delaware River bridge tolls must enroll with the Delaware River Port Authority and register their E-ZPass transponders, the port authority said today.

Regular bridge tolls are going up by $1, to $4, on Sept. 14. For senior citizens, the current $1 toll will double to $2, except for those with registered E-ZPass transponders, who will pay $1.75.

Seniors currently enrolled in the DRPA's senior discount program can register their existing E-ZPass transponders by filling out an application. Applications will be available at www.drpa.org, or by calling 856-968-2000 or 215-218-3750 and dialing extension 5. Callers may also dial 856-968-3347.

Seniors without an E-ZPass may enroll or request an application at www.ezpassnj.com or by calling 1-888-288-6865. They may also apply in person at the E-ZPass Customer Service Center at 420 N. 6th St. in Camden.

In addition, toll collectors will be handing out applications at toll plazas.

Existing $1 senior discount coupons will remain valid for use until 2010. Two coupons will be required to pay the $2 senior toll, beginning Sept. 14.
