Jackpots rise again in Powerball, Mega Millions
Sorry, but you didn't win the big one last night.
Sorry, but you didn't win the big one last night.
Nobody did.
So Powerball's $109 million jackpot rolled over again, bounding to $126 million for Saturday's drawing.
And nobody won Tuesday's big one either, as Mega Millions racheted upward to $54 million for Friday's draw.
Another jump or two, and Powerball's top prize could rival the $174.4 million jackpot hit Feb. 28 by two still-unknown winners.
One ticket was sold at Plymouth Meeting Mall, the other at Ben Bow's package store in Dover, Del.
On average, winners take about a month to come forward, in order to get needed legal and financial advice, according to a Pennsylvania lottery spokeswoman.
Ten North Jersey winners, however, only took one day to let the world know they'd hit the March 3 Mega Millions jackpot worth $216 million, and waited only 10 days to contact lottery officials.
Last night's Powerball numbers were 2, 9, 33, 41 and 54, with a Powerball of 14.
Two tickets, sold in Connecticut and South Carolina, won $1 million for having the Power Play multiplier option plus all the numbers except the Powerball.
Without the Power Play, the same combination earned a payday of $200,000 for two tickets sold in Florida and Nebraska.
Tuesday's Mega Millions numbers were 14, 39, 47, 48 and 53, with a Mega Ball of 29.
For having all the numbers except the Mega Ball, four tickets - one each in Maryland and Texes, two in California - won $250,000.
