How hot will it get?

Things could get heated this weekend.

Things could get heated this weekend.

There could be complaints.

No, we're not talking about the Eagles and tomorrow's NFL draft.

Thermometers around here haven't passed the 80 mark since September, but that could happen for three or four straight sunny days.

It might be time to plant those backyard tomatoes.

Saturday and Sunday could even challenge 90 - last achieved the last week of summer.

Florida cities Jacksonville and Miami will be cooler this weekend, according to weather.com.

After a high in the low or mid 70s today, the warm-up should send temperatures up into the upper 80s tomorrow and Sunday.

They should be the warmest days of the year by far - shattering the previous high, last Sunday's 78.

Records aren't expected to fall, however.

The mark is 92 for both April 25 (set in 1960) and 26 (1990).

"It's not out of the realm of possibilities," said Lee Robertson of the National Weather Service's Mount Holly office. "Right now, though, with all of our computer model guidance, we're not expecting it to get to 92."

Monday could be in the mid 80s and Tuesday in the low 80s, before rain should cool things for Wednesday.

Is overnight frost no longer a worry for gardeners and farmers in the Philadelphia area?

Historically, after April 27, there's only a 10 percent chance of getting a frost in Philadelphia, Robertson said.

"It's a pretty good bet that it's not going to happen, but there is that chance," he said.
