Police tow minivan in probe of fatal hit-run

Police today towed a minivan matching the description of the vehicle that fatally struck a pedestrian along Roosevelt Boulevard in Hunting Park and then was driven from the scene early Thursday.

The dark Chrysler minivan with front-end damage on the passenger side, including a partially broken windshield, was located on Leon Street in the Mayfair section.

The victim, identified tonight as Calvin D. Wilkerson, 18, of Philadelphia, was crossing Ninth Street along the Boulevard about 2 a.m. when he was hit by a northbound vehicle, police said.

Wilkerson, who lived in the area, was pronounced dead at Temple University Hospital at 2:22.    - Robert Moran
