‘Hipster Grifter’ to return to Utah to face charges

Ferrell, 22, waived her right to extradition via video link from jail at a five-minute hearing in the Criminal Justice Center before Common Pleas Court Judge Frank Palumbo.
During the hearing she was asked if she was mentally competatant to waive her right.
Telling the court she had a B.A. from the University of Utah, she said she was.
Ferrell, who wore an orange jail jumpsuit for the hearing, moved to Brooklyn last year from Salt Lake City, and began scamming her friends, according to various accounts. Fake pregnancies and forged checks were only two of the scams she allegedly pulled.
Bloggers began to track her exploits giving her the name "hipster grifter."
Philadelphia police arrested Ferrell on May 3 as a fugitive in Chinatown. Philadelphia Detective Dave Smith said an unidentified caller tipped off police. It is unknown how long she was in Philadelphia before being arrested.
For authorities in Salt Lake City, Ferrell's lies allegedly amounted to $60,000 worth of forgery, bad checks, and theft. She's been on their "most wanted" list since October.
Ferrell is being held at the Riverside Correctional Facility in Northeast Philadelphia, with bail set at $250,000.
Six warrants await her in Utah.
Salt Lake City Police have up to 30 days to retrieve Ferrell from Riverside and take her back to Utah to answer the charges.
