SCRANTON - Tourism agencies say they are targeting "the roof rack crowd" with a new 11-county "Upstate PA' marketing strategy.
The term is an effort by five regional agencies to describe an area of northeastern Pennsylvania with attributes from Pocono Mountain tourism to Lackawanna County's industrial heritage.
Bradford, Carbon, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, Schuylkill, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming counties are participating.
Executive director Tracy Barone of the Lackawanna Convention and Visitors Bureau is president of the new "Upstate PA" board.
Organizers plan an event tomororw at Lackawanna College in Scranton to introduce the campaign, according to the Scranton Times-Tribune.
