Boxing great Joe Frazier's step-grandson was shot and killed early today while working security at a North Philadelphia Bar, police said.

Peter Lyde Jr., 25, was working at Pleasures Bar, in the 2100 block of Ridge Ave., when an argument broke out between two male patrons at about 1:18 a.m. One of the patrons pulled a gun and began firing, striking Lyde in the chest, police said. Lyde was taken to Temple University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No arrests had been made and the investigation was continuing, police said.

Lyde, of the 4000 block of Old York Road, is the son of Peter Lyde Sr., who is married to Joe Frazier's daughter, Municipal Court Judge Jacqui Frazier-Lyde.    - Christopher K. Hepp
