Jose Carrasquillo, the rape suspect who was attacked by an angry neighborhood mob this week, was released from the hospital earlier today, police said. He is being interviewed by detectives at the special victims unit building in Kensington in the alleged rape of an 11-year-old girl.

Carrasquillo has not been charged in the rape, but police have said they have evidence linking him to the crime scene, including a pair of sunglasses he left there. He was taken into custody on a bench warrant Tuesday, but before he was arrested a group of neighborhood residents recognized him from photos released by police, then pounced on him in anger. He was taken to Temple University hospital with head injuries.

Police are looking into the possibility that Carrasquillo may be a suspect in other assaults, said Philadelphia Police Lt. Frank Vanore.

The girl was released from the hospital yesterday.
