Slain officer’s wife gives birth to his child

The wife of slain Philadelphia Police Officer John Pawlowski gave birth last night to the baby she was carrying when her husband was killed in February.

The wife of slain Philadelphia Police Officer John Pawlowski gave birth last night to the baby she was carrying when her husband was killed in February.

Police and hospital officials at Abington Hospital would not release any additional information, but NBC10 is reporting that Kim Pawlowski named the baby boy - weighing in at six pounds, eleven ounces - John Pawlowski, Jr.

Officer Pawlowski was killed on Feb. 13 while responding to a robbery in the city's Logan section. The shooter opened fire on the 25-year-old officer and his partner.

His wife was four months pregnant at the time.

The suspect, Rasheed Scruggs, is set to stand trial for murder.

In a statement released throught the Philadelphia Police Department, the officer's family asked for privacy and said they "would like to thank everyone for all the love and support for Kim and her new baby."

The baby was to be the couple's first child.
