A 16-year-old Bucks County girl died this afternoon when the car in which she was a passenger smashed into a tree in Warrington, authorities said.
Alexandra Smolin, of Chalfont, was in a rear seat when the driver of the car lost control on Street Road near Elbow Lane about 2:45 p.m., said Dr. Joseph Campbell, the Bucks County coroner. Smolin was wearing her seat belt and died at the scene.
The driver and another passenger were taken to Abington Memorial Hospital, authorities said. Their conditions were not immediately known.
Smolin was a student at Central Bucks South High School, Campbell said. The school's Web site said that yesterday was the first day back from summer vacation. The crash occurred about a mile from the school.
