A man sought in the killing of a Delaware police officer turned himself in late this morning, according to state police.

Christopher Reeves, 20, of Lincoln, Sussex County, was wanted for questioning about the fatal shooting on Tuesday night of a Georgetown officer, and the wounding of another.

A single bullet apparently hit both Patrolman Chad Spicer, who died at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, and Cpl. Shawn Brittingham, who was treated there for a neck wound.

The officers were shot after pulling over a Chrysler Sebring, allegedly driven by Reeves. It matched the description of a vehicle seen after shots were fired around 6:45 in the parking lot of a Georgetown fast-food restaurant on DuPont Highway.

When the suspects got out of the Chrysler and began to run, Brittingam was struck as he left the patrol car and Spicer was hit before he could get out of the cruiser.

Derrick Powell, 22, of Cumberland, Md., taken into custody after the shooting, was already charged with murder. A third man taken into custody was not charged.

The warrant for Reeves specified possible charges of resisting arrest and disregarding a police officer's signal.
