Two young men killed in separate shootings

Police were investigating two homicides in two parts of city tonight.

In the first, an unidentified young man described as 16 to 20 years old was shot several times in the chest shortly after 9 p.m. in South Philadelphia.

Medics pronounced him dead at the scene, the 2400 block of Morris Street, at 9:25 p.m.

In the second shooting, the victim was a 20-year-old man shot three times in the city's Kingsessing section, police said.

The attack occurred around 9:30 p.m. in front of a house in the 5400 block of Trinity Street, police said.

The victim, who was shot twice in the back and once on his left side, was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was pronounced dead about a half-hour later.

No arrests were reported tonight, but police said they recovered four .40-caliber shell casings at the scene.
