Police: 2 murder-suicides claim 3 women, 1 man

At 6:44 p.m., police found the bodies of two women in the dining room of a home in the 400 block of E. Gowen Street in East Mount Airy.
Irene Kushnir, 89, who lived there, was apparently shot by her daughter, Motria Kushnir, 60, who then shot herself, police said.
Both had head wounds. They were pronounced dead at 7:11 p.m.
Shortly after 8:30 p.m., police were called to the 600 block of Maple Avenue in the Northeast's Somerton section, where they found the bodies of a woman and her husband.
Angela M. Atkinson, 35, died of gunshot wounds to the head and torso, police said.
She was killed by her husband, Edward, 43, who then fatally shot himself in the head, according to police.
They were both pronounced dead at the scene.
