Blind woman sexually assaulted in Mayfair

A 50-year-old blind woman was attacked this afternoon at her home in the city's Mayfair section, police said.

A man approached the woman from behind as she walked into her house and pushed her inside, where he beat and raped her, according to authorities.

Police were called to the residence around 5 p.m. The woman is being treated at the hospital and has not yet been interviewed by detectives. The Special Victims Unit is investigating.
