Robber shoots man in East Mt. Airy

A 51-year-old man was shot and critically wounded this morning during an attempted robbery on a street in East Mount Airy, police said.

The victim, not immediately identified, was rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the chest after the 6:40 a.m. shooting at Chew Avenue and Phil Ellena Street, police said.

Police are looking for the gunman.
