A car crash early this morning in Kensington killed a passenger and left the driver critically injured, police said.

A Ford Focus carrying the two men was speeding southbound on G Street about 1:15 a.m. when it crossed into the northbound lanes and struck a utility pole near East Luzerne Street, police said.

The passenger, who was not immediately identified, police, was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:20 a.m. The driver, who lives in the neighborhood, was taken to Temple University Hospital where he was in critical condition, police said.
