Police: Montco woman found dead Sunday was slain

Detectives in Montgomery County are investigating the murder of an elderly woman in her Huntingdon Valley home.

Mary D. Pellegrino, 86, was found "unresponsive" in her Pine Road home Sunday afternoon by a handyman who had worked for her.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Pellegrino had been dead for several days and had not died of natural causes, said District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman.

Yesterday, Pellegrino's death was ruled a homicide caused by blunt force trauma by the Montgomery County Coroner's Office.
