Early-morning ice on County Line Road played a role in a crash that took the life of an 84-year-old North Wales man, according to Warrington police.

Just east of Bradford Road, shortly after 6:30 this morning, Joseph J. Owsiak Sr. was heading east in a 2008 Ford Edge when it lost control and slid into the westbound lane, colliding with a 2007 Dodge van, police said.

Owsiak was pronounced dead at the scene.

The van driver, Dennis J. Fesmire, 36, of Hatboro said he was uninjured, but was transported to Doylestown Hospital for evaluation.

Several other eastbound vehicles wound up involved in accidents, "as a result of this accident as well as road conditions," according to a statement from Warrington Township Police.

Smaller than an SUV, and constructed on a car platform, the Ford Edge is a crossover-utility vehicle, or CUV.
