But Officer Kata McIntosh's husband faces fines in the death of Patton, a golden retriever.
Patton, died July 7 after being left in a parked vehicle in Mount Holly, where McIntosh works and her husband Robert is an emergency medical technician.
In Bordentown Township municipal court Wednesday, Robert McIntosh said his wife left the dog in the car and he was to pick it up shortly.
But he said he was delayed by an emergency call and the 5-year-old dog died from heatstroke.
Charges against Kara McIntosh were dismissed, as were criminal charges against her husband. He pleaded guilty to civil complaints of animal cruelty and was ordered to pay $2,224 in fines and restitution.
