Powerball wins: $1 million in Bucks, $200K in Delco

Luck smiled on the Philadelphia area last night.

Luck smiled on the Philadelphia area last night.

Nobody won the Powerball jackpot - propelling it to $200 million ($96.3 million cash) for Saturday's drawing - but a ticket bought in Bucks County won $1 million and another sold in Delaware County hit for $200,000.

That's on the heels of another Pennsylvania ticket winning $500,000 in Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing.

The million-dollar winner was at the Super Fresh at 1601 Big Oak Rd. in Yardley. The slip matched the first five numbers - 17, 21, 37, 41 and 50 - while having the Power Play multiplier option. The ticket missed only the Powerball, which was 1.

The $200,000 winner was sold at the Sunoco at 296 E. Baltimore Pike in Media. It matched the same numbers without the Power Play. Texas had two such winners, while Arizona, Iowa, Louisiana, South Carolina and West Virginia had one apiece.

Tuesday night, as the Mega Millions jackpot was rolling over to $20 million ($12.3 million cash) for tomorrow night's drawing, a ticket purchased in a Sheetz store in Port Allegany, McKean County, matched the first five numbers - 14, 16, 18, 19 and 29 - while having the Megaplier option. Since that multiplier was 2, it doubled the regular $250,000 second-tier prize.

The player missed only the Mega Ball, which was 16.

Two Maryland tickets also matched five numbers, as did one each in California, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia.

Sorry, Jersey. This was not your week.

(Powerball and Mega Millions handle their multipliers differently. Power Play, available wherever Powerball is played, automatically boosts second-tier prizes to $1 million, no matter what Power Play number is drawn. Last night, the Power Play was 2. The Megaplier, which multiplies non-jackpot prizes by the number drawn, is not available in seven original Mega Millions states, including New Jersey.)

Both lotteries are now played in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and 31 other states. California and Ohio play only Mega Millions, while seven states, including Florida, offer only Powerball.
