Delaware County officials have announced a public meeting to present the results of the study done by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health on delivery of public health services will be held May 12.
The meeting will begin at 6 p. m. in the council meeting room at the Government Center on 201 West Front Street, Media.
Commissioned by the county in 2008, the Hopkins study was designed to identify gaps in coverage, and make recommendations to remedy shortfalls. A $50,000 state grant funded the study.
The county does not have its own health department. Community groups have been pushing to establish a county-based Department of Public Health.
The Hopkins study was released in early March. It showed that public-health systems in the county lacked coordination and leadership and that officials needed to increase residents' awareness of programs.
